Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. How can I add or update a radio station?
You can submit a request to add a new station or update an existing one using this form:
    https://live-radio.co.nz/index.php?do=feedback
  2. Why does the radio stream stop after a few minutes?
If a station uses a stream with the HTTP protocol, we play it through a custom script. This script has limitations and can only play for 3–5 minutes continuously before it needs to be manually refreshed. To avoid this issue, we recommend using HTTPS streams. This problem does not occur in our mobile app.
  3. How is the station ranking calculated?
The ranking is based on a simple formula: the more listeners a station has, the higher it appears in the directory. However, this is not permanent — the statistics are calculated over the last 7 days. If a station receives fewer listeners, it will gradually move down in the ranking.
  4. How is the top songs list created for each station?
We track how many times each song is played on a station. The more frequently a song is played, the higher it ranks. This method helps highlight the most current and popular hits on each station.
  5. Why do some stations not have playlists?
Not all stations provide metadata with song information. Our system attempts to extract this data from the stream, but if it’s not available, a playlist cannot be generated. Still, most stations do include this information in their metadata.
